Body Symbology is a simple powerful toll that is used in body-mind-spirit integration. The essence of this model is exploring the natual an organic wayu that the emotional and spiritual aspects of life are manifest in the physical body.

Awareness of these correlations can provide direction and opportunities for changing and improving the relationshiop between these vital realms of out existence.

The relationship between mind, body and spirit are vididly woven into the fabric of our language. The phrase, "he carries the weight of the world on his shoulders" shows clearly how tension, pain, and body dynamics associated with the shoulders may suggest a relationship to issues of responsibility, blame, work, etc. In my experience as a wellness coach and body therapist, I have found that the cliches we use can offer us understandings in dynamic ways.

Body symbology is possibly best utilized by approaching it with a balance between the analytical and intuitive aspects of the mind. By allowing the conscious and unconscious to work hand in hand strong integrated awarenesses become apparent.

Hints, clues and hunches can provide a wealth of insight that can be integrated into affirmations, visualizations, prayer, meditation, massage/bodywork and dream work.

Allowing the messages to unfold and being a conscious observe is the most natural way to experiecne this model. If something rigns a bell with strong emotional response either for or against a particular symbolic cue may give you cause for paying attention. A positive reaction is often clear. While a reaction of adversion may reveal denial over an issue. But, if the shoe doesn't fit, don't wear it. Remember, that when confronted by the question as to whether his cigar was a phallic symbol, even Sigmund Freud said, "Sometimes, a cigar is just a cigar." (Insight or denial ?)

As you consider following cliches and symbolic relationships allow yourself to become mindful of emotions, images, thoughts, reactions, and body sensatitions that occur and provide you with information that you need. Saying them slowly out loud may enhance your ability to recognize when one is a fit for you.
