In the many years that I have been creative as a wellness coach, bodyworker, and teacher, I've observed a shift in the approach people are taking toward therapy and change. Needing to identify an illness or deficiency as incentive to change is an old paradigm which is more and more being replaced in a new way. This new image challenges us to view growth and recovery as a continual natural process of personal development. I joke and teach frequently that my Grandmother taught me that, "We were born to suffer and die." I have always disagreed. I believe, we were born to be in joy and accept the beauty that this world has to offer. Suffering and dying are probably part of this life's journey. I feel, they need not be our main "job description". If we realize ourselves as spiritual beings who are experiencing a physical existence then it will be are natural tendency to grow and create in ways that offer ourselves and our world love. As a result of this way of thinking, I am observing more delight and sense of adventure in the people that I am collaborating with both professionally and personally. One of the newest ways that I am envisioning this is the concept of Therapeutic Entertainment. Generally over the years most people have found me to be someone who is thoroughly entertaining as well as easily entertained. I've always felt that Hunter S. Thompson said it quite efficiently, "When the going get's weird, the weird turn pro". At present the manifestations of Therapeutic Entertainment are a continual natural joy and playfulness in the ways I work with people. I am also currently in process of creating some wellness curriculum and learning adventures, interactive awareness experiences for this web site, and written materials to inspire a "strong play ethic". Anthonyy De Mello reminded us that, "No one or nothing can make you happy because you already are." So, if you are interested in dialoguing or collaborating concerning Therapeutic Entertainment as always, I encourage you to contact me. |
