Energy Bank Account

An interesting mind/body awareness is the image of an energy bank account. In every action that you choose it is possible see whether it gives you energy or takes energy from you. Some actions will be a deposit to your account such as eating nutritional whole foods, fortifying the immune system with rest, vitamins, and positive thought and maintaining supportive relationships. Others like working in hazardous conditions, acting the role of a martyr, and trying to be responsible for things that are not in your control can make substantial withdrawals.

Some choices may give you a bigger return on your investment. For instance a relaxing massage may allow you to improve your circulation and bring a vitality which offers you more access to your natural energy. Or removing something from your life that you have been tolerating for a long time like a toxic relationship may relieve excessive energy drains. Other behaviors like addictions or artificial boosters such as nicotine and caffeine may have the effect of borrowing energy that you don't have in your bank account. These loans will eventually come due and can take their toll on your health, your family, and your personal development.

You can assess your energy credit rating by

1) Being aware of what an energy flow feels like in any present action. Make a distinction between something that truly excites you and something that merely irritates you.

2) Being aware of whether others are asking you for emotional energy loans by trying to get you to feel their feelings. Accepting this can bring on hidden cost and make it confusing to access your own feelings.

3) Being conscious that you are living your own life. Are you doing what you want to do ? Are you living your dreams ? Or are you merely following societal pressures or family scripts that you don't believe in ?

4) Making wise investments. Distinguish between short term gains and long term investments. Living your values, maintaining your integrity, and having an attitude of gratitude offers you greater dividends by allowing you to invest in yourself over a lifetime.

5) Being economical with your energy. Go with the flow. If you are feeling energized, utilize this to build on your creative endeavors. If you are feeling low then choose quieter, contemplative activities which allow for both expression and rejuvenation.

6) Choosing your battles strategically. Fighting against things which can not be changed, feeling shame for natural feelings or sexuality, or trying to change other people can rob you of your strength. Practicing acceptance, observation without judgment, and empathetic generosity can both empower you and strengthen your reserves.

I believe in a prosperity which realizes that in the source of Spirit there is an abundant and unlimited supply of energy. We can access this if we continue a process of being open. I have also observed that at some stages in our personal development, energetic economics require that we become good consumers. We live richer lives when we are continually conscious of what actions cost us. This is reflected in the the auyervedic wisdom from India which says, "If you want to know why you are the way you are today, look at the choices you made ten years ago. If you want know how you will be in ten years, look at the choices you are making today. Enjoy and watch for life's gifts & energy sales.
