Smiling
The way we respond to injuries can greatly effect our healing and recovery time.
The way we think and feel sets the tone for our process of healing.
Smiling is one of the most positive, powerful techniques for maintaining the natural unity of body, mind and spirit. This seemingly simple act harmoniously weaves a together a pleasant physical component, a positively charged emotional dynamic and a rich spiritual essence.
There are several ways to concentrate the power of smiling.
1) Make your smile genuine. A genuine smile releases tension in the face. In contrast a fake smile tenses the face and increases stress. If a tear or anger is a more appropriate response then let it be expressed first. You can then smile more easily and naturally.
2) The essence of smiling is an energetic action which need not be limited to the face. With very little practice you can smile from your heart, your hands, your hugs, etc. Simply duplicate the warm glowing sensation from another location in your body.
3) It is also possible to smile from one area of your body to another. This can be a very potent tool for connecting nurturing energy from a strong area of your body to a weak or injured area. Try just imaging your heart smiling at an injured foot or back the way you would gently smile at a sleeping baby.
4) Spiritual smiles can be transmitted over vast distances. These can be a lovingly, playful way to pray, meditate or do imagery.
5) You can be generous with smiles. They come from an unlimited spiritual source. Smile at strangers, elders, homeless, etc. Smile at people that don't seem to deserve them. The angry, frustrated or struggling souls needs smiles more than most of us.
6) Spontaneous smiling is an exceptional way to improve our emotional ecology. In the very least it will keep people wondering what you're up to.
Smiling transcends and translates into all languages and religious beliefs. It is a simply economical investment which offers large dividends of cheerfulness, good will and potentially world peace. Enjoy and smile !
